Safety alerts: Wet Weather Caution
Due to current weather conditions, please proceed with caution on walking trails and campgrounds. 
Please note.

  • Use caution on rough and slippery surfaces
  • Beware of trees falling
  • Look out for erosion, washouts and soft muddy tracks
  • Be aware of creek crossings with fast running water- water levels of the river crossing may become too deep and fast flowing to pass, and extreme caution is advised
Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, consider your need to visit and travel through areas in this park. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Closed areas: Royal National Park Visitor Centre
The Royal National Park Visitor Centre is currently closed due to flooding at Audley Weir. Visitor centre staff are working from other locations and can still answer enquiries on 02 9542 0648.

Closed areas: Allambie Flat Toilets are closed
The toilets at Allambie Flat picnic area are closed due to construction of new toilets at this site. Alternative toilets are available at Bus Stop Flat and Ironbark Flat.

Safety alerts: Fire trail maintenance works
Fire trail maintenance works will take place on the following fire trails from Monday 19 September 2022 to Thursday 20 October 2022 :  
  • Curra Moors 
  • Bola Heights
  •  Rawson Parade
  •  Loftus Trig
  • Engadine Lakes 
  • Wilsons Creek Dam
  • The Ridge
The works will involve use of heavy machinery. Please use caution when visiting these trails.

Closed areas: The Coast track closed at Otford
The Coast track is closed at Otford due to landslips. There is no alternative route from this point.
The area at Otford will remain closed until further notice.

Closed areas: North Era campground closed
North Era campground is closed until further notice due to the effects of flooding and nearby closures of sections of Royal Coast track.
The area will re-open once it is safe to do so. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please contact the Royal National Park Visitor Centre on 02 9542 0648.

Closed areas: Garie Road CLOSED
Garie Road is closed until further notice due to damage to the road surface.
This road may remain closed for some time to allow for extensive repairs, A reopening date is not currently known.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. Please check Live Traffic NSW for updates before attempting to drive to Garie Beach.

Safety alerts: Lady Carrington Drive - Landslip
Lady Carrington Drive has been impacted by the recent rain. The surface is eroded and waterlogged. Use caution on rough and slippery surfaces. A portion of the track has been impacted by a landslip, trail users should pass this section without stopping.

Safety alerts: Curra Moors track condition - be cautious
Sections of Curra Moors fire trail and walking loop track are in poor condition due to erosion. Please be cautious, and be aware of unstable edges.
Planning for repairs is in progress.

Closed areas: Partial Closure Coast Track Little Garie
The Coast Track is closed between Garie and Little Garie is closed until further notice due to rock falls and erosion.

Werrong Beach track is closed due to a land slip. Further information will be available following a geotechnical assessment.

Mount Royal National Park

Closed areas: Mount Royal Road and Cassels Road closed due to road conditions
The following areas are closed to public vehicle access from Tuesday 19 April to Monday 31 October 2022 due to significant road damage:

  • Mount Royal Road
  • Cassels Road
  • Youngville camping area
  • Carrow Brook walking track
  • Pieries Peak walking track
  • Youngs Trail picnic area
These areas will re-open as soon as they are safe.
